Mad River Alchemy

Mad River Alchemy Workshop

A workshop devoted to alchemy, natural medicine, fine craftsmanship, and thoughtful observation of the living world.

Welcome.

The work has found a new home.

Mad River Alchemy is the new home of my work following five years creating Reålea Skincare.

My family and I recently relocated from the redwood forests of Sonoma County, California, to the Mad River Valley of central Vermont. Here, I am establishing a workshop in a restored nineteenth-century timber-frame barn—a bright, carefully finished space where old hand-hewn beams and salvaged stained glass now surround the work of a modern laboratory and atelier.

Mad River Alchemy brings together more than twenty years of practice in alchemy, natural medicine, craft, and the close observation of the living world. It is home to the preparations many of you have come to know, but also to a broader body of work that will unfold through writing, teaching, apothecary practice, metalwork, book arts, and the making of beautiful and useful things.

The new website and online store are still taking shape, but the workshop itself is already active.

If you have come looking for any of the preparations you have relied upon over the years, I would be delighted to hear from you directly.

Letters from the Workshop

In the months ahead, I will be sharing essays and observations from the workshop, reflections on alchemy, nature, craft, healing, and imagination, glimpses into works in progress, and occasional news of new preparations and offerings.

If that conversation speaks to you, I hope you will join me.

If you would like to receive occasional letters from the workshop—new essays, observations, and news of new work—I would be delighted to welcome you.

Thank you for finding your way here. I look forward to sharing what grows from this new place.
